Play fair
Protect your eyes
Respect the field
Have fun
Eye protection is required for all players on the field. ASA staff and field marshals have the final call on safety, scoring, and rule enforcement.
1. Player Safety
- Eye protection must be worn before entering the play area.
- No physical contact, tackling, wrestling, pushing, or blocking.
- Stop play immediately if a marshal calls "Freeze," "Hold," or "Safety."
- Tell a marshal right away if someone is hurt, overheated, lost, or needs help.
- Bring water, wear comfortable shoes, and dress for outdoor movement.
2. Sportsmanship
- Keep the game positive, family-friendly, and respectful.
- No bullying, threats, rough language, or arguing with staff.
- Call your hits honestly. Good sportsmanship keeps the game moving.
- Celebrate wins with class and treat every player like part of the ASA community.
3. Blasters, Darts, and Gear
- Only foam-dart blasters approved by ASA staff may be used.
- No modified gear that causes unsafe impact, sharp edges, or unfair advantage.
- Do not aim at faces, bystanders, animals, vehicles, or staff members.
- Use only approved foam darts or event-provided ammo when required.
- Melee toys, shields, or special props must be checked by staff before use.
4. Field Boundaries
- Stay inside the marked play area during matches.
- Players who leave the field during active play may be counted out or sent to respawn.
- Do not climb trees, fences, buildings, tables, or unsafe obstacles.
- Respect all park rules, property, vendors, sponsors, and event equipment.
5. Capture the Flag Basic Rules
- Each team starts on its assigned side with its own flag or objective marker.
- The goal is to capture the opposing flag and return it to your base without being tagged out.
- A player is out when hit by a foam dart on the body, clothing, or carried gear.
- When out, raise your hand or blaster, stop firing, and move to the respawn zone.
- Respawn timing may change by event, age group, or game mode. Listen for marshal instructions before each round.
- If the flag carrier is tagged, the flag must be dropped where the player was hit or returned according to the marshal's instruction.
- The round ends when a team scores, time expires, or ASA staff calls the match.
6. Age Groups and Teams
- Teams may be divided by age group, skill level, or event bracket.
- Younger players may need a parent or guardian present during the event.
- Team captains are responsible for helping their squad understand the rules.
- ASA may adjust teams to keep matches balanced and safe.
7. Spectators and Parents
- Spectators must stay in approved viewing areas unless staff gives permission.
- Please do not enter the field during active play.
- Cheering is welcome. Coaching is allowed only when it does not delay or disrupt the match.
- Parents or guardians should check in with staff if a child needs assistance.
8. Weather and Event Changes
ASA may pause, delay, move, or cancel activities due to unsafe weather, field conditions, low visibility, emergencies, or instructions from the venue.
Check the Events & Flyers page or contact ASA before the event if weather looks uncertain.
9. Staff Decisions
Field marshals and ASA staff are there to keep games safe, fair, and fun. Their calls are final during active play. Players who repeatedly ignore rules may be removed from the match or event.
